Skateboarding may not have been accepted into the 2012 Olympics, but it doesn't mean that it won't have a role in the venerable event. Word was released on March 23, 2012, that one of this year's Olympic torchbearers would be none other than a skater. Here are a few more details:
About the Announcement
18 year old skateboarder and skate shop owner, James Threlfall, will have the incredible honor of carrying the Olympic torch on May 22, 2012, as it makes its way to the site of the games in London. Threlfall was nominated to be a torch bearer by his cohort, Miles Goodspeed. Threlfall was purportedly chosen for the honor because of his commitment to skateboarding and his community.
